Angular + Ionic codebase — web and mobile
EyeLecture has spent over a decade training residents, fellows and physicians through video lectures, structured curricula and certification. The platform works — but the infrastructure underneath won’t hold much longer. And as a nonprofit funded by institutional donors, the whole modernization runs on a fixed budget — every architecture choice has to earn its cost, with no room for rework.
Next2AI started with a technical audit — separating what’s broken from what’s fragile from what’s simply old but still working. A full rewrite wasn’t affordable, and wasn’t necessary everywhere.

The roadmap sequences the work in phases instead of a big-bang rewrite, starting with the highest-risk piece: migrating AngularJS to a modern Angular codebase built with Ionic — so one codebase serves web and a future mobile app.
Video is the product — lectures are core. Loom’s SDK worked on paper, but it required every academic contributor to create and manage a third-party account before recording. That friction — an account requirement, not a technical limit — was enough to rule it out. Next2AI is now evaluating Mux, Cloudflare Stream and a self-hosted recorder that keep the experience inside EyeLecture.
The best SDK on paper isn’t the right choice if it breaks the experience of the people the whole platform depends on.
The target architecture replaces the AngularJS monolith with a modular, mobile-first system — a single Angular/Ionic codebase where future features slot in without re-architecting. Each module is a reusable component, useful to EyeLecture today and to any future medical-education project.
